If you’ve ever looked into professional skin treatments, chances are you’ve come across micro needling, commonly known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy. This high-end, clinical-grade treatment is renowned for its ability to improve everything from fine lines and pigmentation, to scarring and dullness.
But if you’ve never had the treatment before, it can sound a little… intense. The thought of tiny needles rolling over your skin might leave you wondering:
◼️Does it hurt?
◼️How will my skin look and feel afterwards?
◼️And is it worth it?
In this mini-guide, we’re sharing everything you need to know before you book your micro needling treatment. (Plus, read to the end for a surprise Winter VIP offer, just for you.
What Is Micro Needling?
Micro needling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses a device with very fine, medical-grade needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the surface of your skin. These tiny channels stimulate your body’s natural healing response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin – the building blocks of plump, youthful, resilient skin.
In clinic, we use advanced, medical-grade needling devices to ensure precision and comfort, with each treatment tailored to your specific, unique skin concerns.
Treatment investment: $249 per treatment
Downtime: 45-60 minutes
Ideal for: fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, pigmentation, sun damage, scarring, uneven texture
Does Micro Needling Hurt? What Are The Side Effects of Micro Needling?
Most of our clients describe the treatment sensation as mildly scratchy or warm, but entirely manageable. Our team is trained to check in throughout the process to make sure you feel safe, supported and comfortable.
The treatment is quick and most clients experience only minimal discomfort, if any. We don’t apply numbing or anesthetic prior to treatment as this can interfere with the treatment’s effectiveness and actually leave your skin a little worse for wear.
After your appointment, your skin may look a little red – like a light sunburn – for 24 to 48 hours. You might also experience slight tightness, dryness or mild flaking as your skin begins to heal. This is completely normal and part of the rejuvenation process.
We’ll give you detailed aftercare instructions, including what to avoid (like makeup, heat, and any skincare actives) and how to support healing at home. Most clients feel comfortable returning to normal activities after 1–2 days, with full recovery within the week.
What Are The Benefits of Micro Needling?
Skin needling can improve a wide range of skin concerns. Some of the most common reasons our clients choose this treatment include:
◼️ Fine lines and wrinkles – Helps smooth and soften the appearance of ageing skin
◼️ Acne scarring – Breaks down old scar tissue and encourages healthy skin renewal
◼️ Pigmentation and sun damage – Evens out skin tone and encourages clarity
◼️ Stretch marks and surgical scars – Can soften texture and improve appearance over time
◼️ Overall skin texture and glow – Refines pores and boosts radiance
When Will I See Results From My Micro Needling Treatment?
You’ll start to notice a change in your skin like a healthy glow within a few days – but the real benefit happens over time. As your skin continues to produce new collagen, you’ll see deeper improvements in texture, firmness and clarity over the following 4–6 weeks.
For best results, we recommend a series of 3-6 treatments depending on your skin type and concerns, spaced 4–8 weeks apart. During your consultation, we’ll create a personalised plan based on your skin goals.
How Much Does Micro Needling Cost?
At Nina Coombs, skin needling starts from $249 per session. Your investment includes a thorough consultation and a calming post-treatment protocol to ensure your skin feels as supported as it looks.
Package pricing is also available for clients where an ongoing treatment plan would be of benefit.
Is Micro Needling Right For Me?
Skin needling is suitable for most skin types, but it’s not ideal if you’re currently experiencing active acne, certain skin conditions like eczema or rosacea, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. That’s why every new client begins with a professional skin consultation to ensure the treatment is right for your skin.
If you’re curious about skin needling but not quite sure where to start, book a consultation with the team at Nina Coombs Skin & Brows and we’ll walk you through your options, explain the process in detail, and help you decide if this glow-boosting treatment is right for you.
